LET THE SUN SHINE!

The view at Pretty Place this morning is "too wonderful for me"! as it was for the young couple, along with a couple of their friends, who became engaged there this morning. It warms my soul to have a young person tell me to have a blessed day............what a blessing he gave me.

THANKSGIVING

This Thursday, November 24th, families in the United States will sit around their dinner tables to eat one of their biggest meals of the year. As all of the aromas of the turkey feast tantalize all of the senses, a parent or patriarch of a lot of families will stand and ask that question all kids (young and old) moan about because it puts off what they are sitting and waiting for a little longer and for my family, that could be many long minutes -- "What are you thankful for this year?" If you are stumped with that question, take a ride up to Pretty Place this Thanksgiving Day. You will not be leaving this heavenly place without a prayer of thanksgiving! I am so thankful that I can spend many moments here remembering the blessings that are brought to mind overlooking God's creation. HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

GIVING THANKS

I'm giving thanks this month for our amazing Camp Greenville Staff! They have been gifted with love, tenderness, and a diversity of skills that have made our specialty camps a huge success. Pretty Place Stargazers, a camp for families who have children with Down's Syndrome, and Healing Challenge, a camp for those who have lost a loved one and need encouragement in coping, are two of our specialty camps that are taking place this month. I hope you will join us and see for yourself! Effects are felt long after your departure from the mountain.............

Fall Women's Wellness Weekend

As I was sitting at Pretty Place yesterday during lunch, I couldn't help but notice how my mind and body kicked into low gear and everything became right in the world. What a nice place to take some time out during our Women's Wellness Weekend, October 21 thru 23. The fall colors will be at their peak and the breeze will be crisp and cool. Come join us to get rested up before the holiday season.

Miracle of Love

A drowning kitten rescued from a gutter by a giant of a man turns his heart to tenderness. The deep down giggle of an infant fills his mother's heart to bursting. The bitter sweet feeling in the heart of a father giving his "little girl" to the man of her dreams on her wedding day...all of these make up the heart of love.

May your day be filled with joy, laughter, and touched by the miracle of love.

God's Wonderful Works

"Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord. Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God." Ps. 135:1-2

I spent my lunch hour at Pretty Place yesterday. I was not alone. There was a constant stream of people coming to enjoy the fresh crisp breeze, the bright sunshine and the awesome view. Feeling the coolness of the breeze and the warmth of the sunshine it is no wonder so many brides-to-be choose this time of the year to begin this chapter of their journey thru life.

Rejoice, Pray and Give Thanks

"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." II Thessalonians 5:16-18 kjv

When you visit "Pretty Place" this month, rejoice in the beauty found in nature, pray for our leaders and men and women in uniform, and give thanks for the blessings that God has poured over our nation.

Over the years that I have been at Camp Greenville, I have had the privilege of visiting and sitting a while during lunch at "Pretty Place". The reactions of visitors for the first time at the Chapel warms my heart. Recently, I showed a bride-to-be "Pretty Place". It was her first time seeing the Chapel. The serene beauty that surrounded her brought tears to her eyes and she knew that it would be the only place for her to say her vows before man and God.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE

"...And the angel answered and said unto the women, 'Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen'...." Matt. 28:5-6

Come join the YMCA Camp Greenville family in celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior at Pretty Place Chapel this Easter, April 24th. The Rocky Hill Baptist Church choir will begin the service approximately forty-five minutes before sunrise. We recommend that you arrive a half hour before the service begins. The traditional buffet breakfast will be served at the Camp's dining hall for $6.00 per person.

Easter Weekend

Why not spend Easter weekend with the whole family by attending Easter Family Camp? Join in traditional camp activities or be adventurous by hiking to our beautiful Rainbow Falls or for the less adventurous hiking to Showerbath Falls. You may just want to slow down the pace of your life by spending a hour or so at Pretty Place Chapel. Saturday comes to an end with an evening program for the whole family and campfire. On Sunday morning you will join camp family and friends from our community at our Easter Sunrise Services followed by a breakfast buffet at the Camp dining hall. A Heavenly Place

Every bride wants her wedding to be unique and memorable. Pretty Place offers both; uniqueness in that it is an open air chapel built on top of Standing Stone Mountain in north Greenville County and memorable in not only the natural beauty of the view but also in the very evident Spiritual Presence. Little or no decoration is needed and all you need to do is add a little guitar music - the acoustics in the chapel requires no amplifier. Final touches to the bride and her attendants can be made in our bride's room and the groom and his groomsmen are not left out. At Pretty Place you really feel the vows you make are not only before family and friends but also before God.

The Roads Are Clear

Would it be rhetorical to say it has been incredibly beautiful at camp this week? Along with an astonishing sunrise or two, it has been my privilege to see the full moon both at night and first thing in the morning. I don't know if the full moon has been in play, but calls by future brides have increased drastically this week. The milder weather has meant that most of the snow has melted. The gates to Pretty Place are now back open and ready for you to come enjoy the majesty of our Creator's handiwork. The forecast looks good.
